Executive Director at GHRH
A multi-award-winning King’s Counsel, in March 2022, Sultana Tafadar became the first hijab-wearing criminal barrister to attain the rank of ‘Silk’. Tafadar is considered one of the foremost experts in counter terrorism and national security cases. She also has an extensive practice across human rights. criminal justice and public international law. Tafadar advises and acts for individuals, states, NGOs, multinational corporations and other national and international bodies, appearing in courts at all levels.
In 2023, Tafadar co-founded the Girls Human Rights Hub with her now 12-year-old daughter.
Tafadar is the winner of Barrister of the Year, Inspirational Women in Law Awards, 2022; Winner of the Professions Category, Asian Women of Achievement, 2021; HERoes Top 100 Women Future Leaders, 2021; finalist in BSN Lawyer of the Year (Chambers), UK Legal Diversity Awards, 2021; finalist in Outstanding Woman in Professional category sponsored by Baker McKenzie, Precious Awards 2021.

Co-founder of Girls Human Rights Hub
Safiyah is 11 years old and the Co-Founder of GHRH. Safiyah has always been driven by the desire to become a human rights lawyer. She came up with the idea of creating a Hub where girls could learn more about their rights and how to claim them.
She loves representing and advocating on behalf of her peers. She has represented her year group on the School Council for two years. She has been a Form Captain and was voted vice House Captain this year. She is a Digital Ambassador at her school and has recently taken on the role of Inclusivity Ambassador. She loves debating and is a Lamda scholar, Safiyah is super-excited by the Hub and is looking forward to changing the world!

Barrister at No5 Chambers
Mirren Gidda is a barrister within No5’s Public Law group, having successfully completed her pupillage in October 2024.
Mirren represents claimants in the fields of police law, prison law, community care and asylum-related judicial reviews, as well as representing families in inquests. She is currently co-convenor of the Police Action Lawyers’ Group and chair of an independent stop and search police monitoring group.
Prior to coming to the Bar, Mirren spent nine years working as an award-nominated journalist with the BBC, as a documentary presenter for Channel 4 and, most recently, as an investigative journalist with the human rights organisation, Liberty, where she spent four years setting up and working for Liberty’s first journalism unit, including reporting on disproportionate policing. Her journalistic experience means she brings tenacity and determination to her practice, as well as empathy for her clients.

A human rights and gender equality activist
Georgiana Epure is a human rights and gender equality activist, whose work is located at the intersection of local and international levels. Her work currently focuses on protecting and advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights in Central and Eastern Europe. Previously, she worked on global advocacy to end child marriage, international human rights strategic litigation, and led gender equality initiatives in Romania. In recognition of her impact, Georgiana was honoured with the 2024 GHRH Trailblazer Award for Leadership.
In 2020, she initiated and has since led Romania’s national campaign to eliminate violence and harassment in the world of work, a movement that led to the country’s ratification of the International Labour Organisation’s Convention on Violence and Harassment.
Georgiana holds an MPhil in International Relations and Politics from the University of Cambridge and an MA in Social Science Research Methods from the University of Leeds.

Campaigner and Activist
Diana Hysenaj is an activist and campaigner, working with communities to drive change. As an activist with the ONE Campaign, Diana focuses on global health and poverty reduction, lobbying political leaders, and participating in advocacy efforts at local, national, and international levels. Diana also serves on the Board of Directors for Amnesty International UK, contributing to the governance of the organisation and advocating for human rights globally.
Diana leads policy and advocacy efforts for various organisations, including the Muslim Legal Fund and previously, the Fair Energy Campaign. She was recognised as one of the Top 100 Inspiring Muslims in the UK by the Aziz Foundation and Emerald Network. As an Emergency Responder for Islamic Relief, Diana supports crisis response efforts in the UK, and in her previous role as a global mentor for Iamthecode, she worked with marginalised communities to address the global STEM skills shortage.
Diana holds a degree in Politics and International Relations from Queen Mary University of London and recently completed her Master's in Human Rights at University College London, funded by a full scholarship from the Aziz Foundation.

Women against Violence Europe (WAVE) Youth Ambassador
Tamina was raised in London, in a half-French, half-English household. As an undergraduate, she worked at a reputed London-based organisation, Standing Together Against Domestic Abuse. She also volunteered at the National Alliance of Women’s Organisations, and worked on feminist projects at her university. From 2020 to 2024, Tamina worked at the UK’s largest domestic abuse organisation, Refuge (WAVE member). First, she administrated safeguarding multi-agency meetings (MARAC) for victim/survivors at high risk. She then was a refuge worker, directly supporting and advocating for women fleeing abuse. Her last role was in Development, working on growing and retaining services, grant-writing, and project implementation. She is now undertaking a Master’s in public administration, with a dedicated focus on social justice and human rights, hoping to tackle systemic enablers of gender-based abuse.
