Press Release
Press Release
The Girls Human Rights Hub (GHRH) is launching a landmark campaign to designate February as Girls’ Human Rights Month, a global movement aimed at tackling gender-based violence, systemic discrimination, and barriers to leadership and justice for girls.
While International Day of the Girl (October 11) raises awareness once a year, one day is not enough to confront the complex and deeply rooted inequalities that millions of girls face daily. From child marriage and lack of education to gender-based violence and legal disenfranchisement, girls’ rights are still widely ignored or neglected in policies, laws, and communities worldwide.
Under the official hashtag #MakeFebruaryGirlsHumanRightsMonth, the campaign will mobilize activists, lawyers, educators, policymakers, and young girls to push for sustained action, demand policy changes, and create legal frameworks that protect girls’ rights year-round.

Important Voter Registration Reminder for Young Adults
The stark reality of the 2019 General Election paints a concerning picture: only 47% of 18-24 year-olds participated, leaving a staggering 4.3 million young individuals absent from the electoral roll. To put this into perspective, that's the equivalent of the population of the UK's second-largest city. In contrast, over 80% of those aged 75 and above exercised their voting rights.
However, the right to express our opinions in free and fair elections is a fundamental human right, as outlined in Article 3 Protocol 1 of the European Convention of Human Rights. Regardless of your stance on issues such as gender equality, climate justice, human rights, or economic and social policies, your vote matters. Now is the time to make your voice heard.
